Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Florida, it was only natural that Joey would become an accomplished Waterman. His love for the ocean is reflected in his artwork as well as his everyday life.
His first showing was in 1997 at the Don Vista Art Center in Saint Pete Beach. Soon after, his work was displayed at the Belleview Art Center in Clearwater and has been on display several times in the Pinellas County School System.
Joey completed his Eagle Scout service project in July 2002, a 15 ft. x 25ft. mural of sea life at Madeira Beach Middle School. Since then, he was chosen to be on display at the Museum Of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg and was commissioned to paint another mural in the library of Madeira Beach Middle School. Three of his works were published in the book of art “Standing Room Only”.
Joey joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 2005, transitioned to the Reserves in 2013 and continues his art when he can. Joey enjoys painting surfboards and has designed the Salinity Gear Florida Native Bull Shark, a Florida Flag version of the original Florida Native, the embroider gag grouper and several other Salinity Gear designs along with countless shirts and logos for the Boy Scouts of America, the U.S. Coast Guard and for friends and family.
